Teresa M. Rivero is a lead senior program officer with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. As part of the K–12 team, she focuses on systems grant making that advances the foundation's mission of raising the national high school graduation rate and helping all students—regardless of race or family income—graduate prepared for college.

Prior to joining the foundation, she was the grant officer for the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation and affiliated foundations. Rivero worked for the Latin American Association as the director of education and as a program manager for the Whitefoord Elementary School–based health clinic. She is a graduate of Emory, where she earned a BBA in finance and an MPH, and earned an MBA from Georgia State University.

Rivero served on the Emory Alumni Board, including a term as president. She has a strong record of public service, which includes serving in the Peace Corps in Honduras, coaching a youth soccer team, and participating in the American-German Marshall fellowship. Rivero is also on the boards of Leadership Atlanta and Learn4Life Metro Atlanta.

She was elected trustee in 2007.
